Advanced Notice of DDD updates and changes
Posted in Announcement, News
In January we will be implementing the 2023 ATC dictionary update from the WHOCC.
The overall changes can be seen on the WHOCC website: https://www.whocc.no/atc_ddd_index/updates_included_in_the_atc_ddd_index/
Changes in DDDs and ATC categories are in effect across the whole data providing one single value to report on.
In addition, we have also identified that in our platform the DDD values for co-trimoxazole 160mg/800mg tablets and 80mg/400mg/5ml oral suspension have been assigned a ‘4 unit dose DDD’ and ‘8 unit dose DDD’ respectively according to the information given by the WHOCC. The website states this is specific only to the 400mg/80mg tablet therefore, to align our information we have decided to adjust the DDD values for co-trimoxazole 160mg/800mg tablets and 80mg/400mg/5ml oral suspension accordingly during the ATC update.
The DDD equivalents for the products below will be as follows:
VMP | Dose Unit Equivalent |
Co-trimoxazole 80mg/400mg tablets | 4 tabs |
Co-trimoxazole 160mg/800mg tablets | 2 tabs *from 4 unit doses |
Co-trimoxazole 40mg/200mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free | 40ml |
Co-trimoxazole 80mg/400mg/5ml oral suspension | 20ml *from 8 unit doses |
Co-trimoxazole 80mg/400mg/5ml solution for infusion ampoules | 20ml |
Co-trimoxazole 160mg/800mg/10ml solution for infusion ampoules | 20ml |
This change ensures the amount of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole which corresponds to 1 DDD is equivalent for all products.
We hope this allows the maximum amount of time available to refresh any datasets extracted from the Rx info data platform.
