Fresh functionality in Define

Admissions Data: Trusts can now use Define to benchmark drug usage not only in terms of the number of beds or occupied beds, but also against admissions data.
This data is sourced from NHS Digital (previously the Health and Social Care Information Centre) and enables Trusts to report on the number of Total Admissions, Outpatient Attendances, Day Case Admissions and per-1000 Total Admissions (for comparison between Trusts).
These statistics are available for the benchmark reports in Define and also in Refine.
CQUIN Antimicrobial Usage Reports: Four new scatter charts have been created in Define under the heading CQUIN Reports to enable Trusts to monitor the data required for CQUIN reporting on antimicrobial preparations.
The charts show the change in DDDs per-1000 admissions for the most recent 12-month period compared with the baseline period of April 2013 to March 2014. They are available for all antimicrobials (ATC code J01), Carbapenems (J01DH), Piperacillin and Tazobactam (J01CR05) and Carbapenem-sparing antimicrobials (aztreonam, fosfomycin, pivmecillinam and temocillin). Trusts using Refine can also rapidly identify the high use and high growth cost centres within their organisation.
We have also made this template available under the custom reports in Define and Refine.
