Drug Description/Unit Clarification
Posted in News
We have had an encouraging number of conversations with Trusts wanting to clarify some of the unidentified drug descriptions that have been generated by their Trust and therefore include them in the benchmarking system.
It is important to note that once a description has been issued on the Trust’s system it will remain in our system and further changes to the Trust’s system will produce a new description on ours, so the creation of an accurate initial description is of benefit to us but also to the Trust’s good data practice. Generally, where possible drug descriptions should use the dm+d definition of the product and include the actual product name (brand or manufacturer) where appropriate. We are more than happy to guide Trusts through what we believe is an accurate and useful description.
